New Year, New Adventure: Part 4
On the second day of our visit to Sydney, we took a road trip west to the Blue Mountains and the old Victorian town of Katoomba and Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens.
On the lower end of Katoomba’s main north-south street, the view is spectacular at the Echo Point overlook.
Mount Tomah Botanic Gardens occupies its own mountain top with views all the way back to Sydney, fifty mile to the east.
For the non-native visitors, gentle reminders are posted along the trails that everything in Australia can kill you.
The visitor center is a nice building with a great view.
If proper church weddings aren’t your thing, the folks at the Botanic Gardens will be happy to help with a venue.
After a day inland, the ship departed Sydney at sunset, beginning a three day dash across the Tasman Sea to New Zealand.
The Tasman Sea gave us two days of empty horizon. The clear skies meant sunny summer days by the pool and gazing at the stars of the Souther Cross by night. Day three was something different. More on that next time.
